How to read Eurostat data on EnergyBoard

Datasets, periods, units, dimensions and missing observations explained.

Eurostat energy data are multidimensional. A value usually depends on a country, period, unit, energy product and sometimes a consumption band or tax level.

Dataset codes

EnergyBoard displays source codes such as nrg_pc_204 for household electricity prices and nrg_ind_ren for renewable energy indicators.

Dimensions are part of the meaning

Two values from the same dataset may not be comparable when units or categories differ. EnergyBoard filters dimensions before creating rankings.

Missing data and revisions

Missing observations remain missing. Eurostat may also revise previously published values, so EnergyBoard records import dates.

Common periods

Rankings use the latest EU-27 period and only include countries with a value for that exact period.
